“He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?” Micah 6:8
Mrs. Lisa McKain graduated from Asbury University with a bachelor of science in math education. Mrs. McKain began teaching in 1984. In the inaugural year of The Gary Rice Educator of the Year Award, Mrs. McKain was the perfect candidate to be the recipient. She is not just an educator at Cincinnati Christian Schools; she is an example of commitment and passion within the institution. Since joining the CCS faculty in 2009, Mrs. McKain has been an integral part of the math department, shaping young minds and fostering a love for numbers. She takes very difficult concepts and presents them in different ways, through song and humor, to help students remember them. In addition to her teaching and numerous other responsibilities, Mrs. McKain serves as the math department chair, showcasing her leadership and organizational skills. Her attention to detail is second to none, as she consistently notices and appreciates the small things that make a difference in the lives of her students and the school community. What truly sets Mrs. McKain apart is her selfless commitment to her students. She enthusiastically takes on the responsibility of being the junior class sponsor, undertaking the intricate task of organizing and fundraising for the much-anticipated junior/senior prom. She sacrifices her own time nearly every day after school, making herself available to help any current or former students in need of assistance with their math work. Mrs. McKain is very intentional about attending extracurricular activities to support her students. She is often seen cheering on CCS students at the court, alley, field, or concert, showing them her support and love in a tangible way. This unwavering dedication goes beyond the call of duty, demonstrating her genuine concern for the academic and spiritual success and well-being of each student under her guidance.
Her passion for teaching, student connections, contagious sense of humor, and willingness to go above and beyond make her a beloved figure in the school community and an inspiration to both students and colleagues alike. Thank you, Mrs. McKain, for all that you do to grow and develop the students of Cincinnati Christian Schools.
